I never report celebrity news on here, but this is too cute not to post. I just found out Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie and Zooey Dechanel of She & Him are engaged. I didn't even know they were dating- two of my favorites, it's adorable. It's the poster children of indie... I bet they'll get married at a craft fair or a museum.
Check out the Rolling Stone article.

It's no secret that I love the Renegade Craft Fair. This year, Renegade opened up a store in Wicker Park on Division. It's great, but the vendor selection is not always the best. Problem solved. Renegade just opened an online store with vendors galore. Click here to check it out.

I've been in my place for about three months now. Since I've been there, I have had suspicions about my upstairs neighbor. I think he has a dog. That's great, I love dogs, but our apartment has a no pets policy.
On several occasions, I thought I heard a dog's collar, the metal on metal clanging. It's a very distinct sound, one I know well. I dismissed this idea, because it could also be my neighbor's keys banging against each other. And if he had a dog, I would have heard it bark, right?
Winter has further fed my conspiracy ideas. When it snowed last week, I saw paw prints in my back yard. They looked like dog prints, but maybe a raccoon climbed over the fence? It was hard to tell where the prints lead, it didn't look like they came from the apartment. Again, if he had a dog, wouldn't I have heard it bark?
Last night, I came home and there were more prints. I took pictures, see above.
Exhibit A: dog footprint in the snow
Exhibit B: dog footprint leading up the back stairs to my neighbor's apartment
A: He has a dog, and I've never heard it bark. The landlord doesn't know.
B: He is dog sitting. The dog is well behaved, and never barks. The landlord doesn't know.
C: He has a dog, possibly a basenji (they don't bark). The landlord knows. This scenario is totally unfair.
It all comes down to me wanting a pet. If upstairs neighbor can have a secret pet, why can't I? And how have I never seen this dog, much less heard it bark?

I made mug cake. Verdict: Kinda gross. I looks like regular cake, but that's about it.
I followed the recipe and opted to add the chocolate chips. The batter looked good and it tasted good. I stuck the mug in the microwave and waited my 3 minutes. The finished product didn't smell all that great. It came out of the mug easily, but had horrible texture. The cake was very dense and slightly rubbery. The chocolate chips were the best part. I suppose that's exactly what you would expect from microwave cake. I'm glad I tried it, but I'll pass on the mug cake from now on.
(pictured above: my mug cake, pretty but rubbery)

I found a recipe for chocolate mug cake. I'm a little leery to try it. According to the recipe, your mug full of batter goes into the the microwave, and three minutes later- voila! You have cake. What? How have I not tried this before? I'll give it a try and will report back with photos.
I've got another video for you. This comes straight out of Amsterdam, a city known for its design. "abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz" (great name, right?) is a short film about a boy and a man who paint the alphabet. The side by side comparison is great. The credits in the beginning are a little long, but I'm in awe of how well the man paints his letters.
I couldn't help but think this is a possible on the job activity for my friend, the occupational therapist? Too messy, Jackie?

I've fallen in love with yet another thing from England. Check out Present & Correct. They're a stationary / vintage / handmade trinket shop. Their products are great, and the layout of the website makes me want everything. While you're on the site check out The Best section. Every week they put together a themed list of things to do, check out, or that are just funny. This week? 10 Cures For the Common Cold. If you're sick, try them one-by-one till you feel better.

My car is in the body shop getting some repairs. The auto body shop offered me a free rental. I've always had a small car. I like driving small cars, my rental is not a small car. It's a Kia Amanti. I'm basically driving a fancy Buick. It's also black, has tinted windows and no stickers. There is a lot of trunk space too. I can't be sure, but I may have been given a mafia car. I cannot properly drive my giant Mafia car. I don't even know how to pull it in the garage. It's a tight space, and I'll scratch up the renal if I do. Not only will the shop be mad at me, but then I'll have the mob on my back and I'm just not ready for that. I get my car back late this week. Until then, life is ridiculous.
Unrelated: I stuck a brown banana in the freezer last night so I could use it for banana bread. I opened the freezer this morning, and it scared me. I didn't know what it was, thought it was an animal. I got scared by a banana- pathetic.

I came across these two videos that I love for very different reasons. The first is hilarious. I love this kid. Without being creepy, his name is Nigel and I think we should be friends. At the very least, he should teach me his sweet dance moves.
The second is an adorable short animation. It's about two worms that find true love. What? Just watch it.
