2009 Amanda Music Awards

Ladies & Gentlemen, it's that time of year. It's time for the Third Annual Amanda Music Awards! These are perhaps the most biased and frivolous fictional music awards on the Internet. That's just how I like it. Let's take a moment to honor all the musical merriment that went down in 2009. Please feel free to join in the fun and give out your own awards via the comment section. Happy Roundup

I'm not having the best of days. To make myself feel better, I've done something completely selfish and created a roundup of things that make me happy. I guess it's not 100% selfish since I am sharing, and maybe you'll like some of it too. Regardless, it's already made me feel better. Aaah, therapy.

Rose Print dress- this oozes sunshine
Key Print- makes me wish keys could look that pretty
Baker's Delight apron- one word: cupcakes
Apartment rug- equal opportunity
Sippin' Safari Mug- tiny giraffes
Gray Mary Jane pumps- these ooze awesome

Shopping Vicariously: I am not the young Victoria...

Later this week, the girls and I are going to see Young Victoria. I'm pretty pumped, and know I'm going to drool over the clothing. I started to put together a period piece outfit a la Young Victoria, but I got distracted. Instead I bring you what I call "I am not the young Victoria, but maybe a modern day Victorian."

Victorian Jacket
Lace blouse
Fancy parasol

Happy Friday

Friday! I talked to my mom last night, and though she was drugged up, her surgery went well. That's a relief, and I'm happy. Time to gear up for a super busy weekend, and a busy day. Let's skip the banter and get to some links:

Coldplay is auctioning off tons of items

Mom & Duffles

My mom is having surgery on her shoulder today, so I'm going to send her happy recovery thoughts. You may have noticed, anytime I talk about my parents I like to share old pictures of them. It's my duty as their child. Get well soon, mummy!

Unrelated, but still worth sharing: Last week, I resigned up for the gym. Let's just say, I've gotten a bit mushy. Gym culture never ceases to amaze me. It's not a mentality I easily understand. The women who show up with fancy gym clothes, come on. You're just going to sweat in them. And why on earth are you wearing all that makeup? I don't get it. I will say I am partial to cute gym bags. I have an argyle one and it makes me happy. I found a few others that are worth sharing, enjoy!

No playlist today, kids. I'm sorry. BUT, have you seen the full length trailer for the new Alice in Wonderland? Check it:

The Young Victoria

This is a busy week, kids. Lots and lots going on. Howl at the Moon party on Friday, Hat Party on Saturday and a show at the Beat Kitchen on Sunday. Plus mom is having her surgery on Thursday, so I'll be a nurse the rest of my free time. I'm very much okay with this and plan on cooking mommy dearest something delicious. I don't have too much time to chat with y'all today, but I want to share something I'm looking forward to. My love for period pieces and all things England has me pumped for The Young Victoria. If you know nothing, watch the trailer here. Emily Blunt looks fantastic! That's all you get from me today, peace out girl scouts.

Hide and Go Seek Cat

It's Monday. Grimble Grumble. Yuck. I'm to try and make the work week transition better with this video. I used to play hide and go seek with Tyler all the time, but I didn't know you could play the game with a cat. Check out Moo the cat from the Color Me Katie blog. I am impressed.

Little Things & Links

It's the little things in life that make me happy. Like double cookies. Check out my mighty double ginger snap.

When the clock hits five today, I have got to move! I've got a busy weekend. My parent's are coming over on Sunday so I have to clean. Parental cleaning is different than friend cleaning. Friend cleaning means things just have to look clean. Parental cleaning means they have to actually be clean. I've got a bunch of errands to run tonight that will take me in several different directions, and I've got a project to take care of this weekend which I cannot divulge the details of just yet. Trust me, I will be busy. Since we've got no time to loose, have some links and have a fabulous weekend! Stay warm.

Check It: New Irene Suchocki

It's nearly 5 and I just noticed I haven't posted anything today. Where are my manners? I found a few new prints from photographer Irene Suchocki. I love these prints. Love them too at her Etsy shop.

Playlist Wednesday: I Like This

No theme today. We are breaking the rules. Today is about music that makes me happy right now, at this very moment. Also, today's music player involves a dog. Hey, it's getting close to the end of the year, I can break the rules. And since it's my blog, I also make the rules. So there we are. Happy Wednesday!

Snow Watch and Mary Mary

Before we get to sharing time, I want to keep you up to date on Snow Watch 2009. I took another picture of my alley this morning. I had mixed feelings about the snow until I realized that if it sticks around till this weekend, I can go sledding! It's supposed to snow more tomorrow and then get really cold. Looks like I get to break in my snow pants.

Moving on, Natalie found a new shop on Etsy called Mary Mary Handmade. Visit the shop and let the adorableness ensue. Smiling ice cream cones, coffee cups, sporks, sloths and more. Everybody say, "Awww..."

The Pancake Project

It is no secret that I love pancakes. Natalie and I have had two pancake parties, and trust me there will be more. When I found out about The Pancake Project blog, I was pretty excited. You might want to go there and check out THIS ENTRY.

Catching Up

I woke up to quite the suprise this morning:

WHAT? I guess this is what I get for not watching the news last night. I did not know this was coming. I will admit, it's really pretty outside. I've got another picture for you:

Mmm! I made an apple tart. It was my first attempt, and it was quite delicious. Between Friday and now I also secured three upcoming concerts. If you didn't know, The Hush Sound is no more. Members are on to solo projects. Greta Salpeter is now in Gold Motel. Check out her first song, and if you are interested check her out December 20th at the Beat Kitchen. February also brings shows from Sondre Lerche at Lincoln hall and St. Vincent at the Metro. I love having shows to look forward to. I'm also looking forward to issuing the 2009 Music Awards! This will be the third year I deal out prestigious honors, and I promise you it will not disappoint. Take a gander at the 2008 and 2007 awards and feel free to make some nominations yourself by way of the comments section. Anything music related is fair game (shows, songs, band members, music videos). I think that's about it, I feel like we had a lot to catch up on. I will bring you interesting things tomorrow. Until then, try and start a snowball fight.

Dear Weekend

Dear Weekend,

I am so excited you are here. I know you're going to be cold, but that's okay. Just make sure the girls can come over for movie night so we can snack ourselves silly. I'm going to clean, and I bought a new cocktail shaker. I may even rearrange the living room furniture for optimal movie viewing. As a thank you for coming and being awesome please accept these interesting things I found on the Internet this week.

Thank you,

P.S. I realize the image of the toast with the heart shaped jam does not apply to anything, I just think toast and jam are brilliant.

Have you seen the surprised kitten?

Be On The Look Out

I Don't Get it

Remember when I loved this dress? I still do! So answer me this: Why does Kate Bosworth look so sad in it? She's not even attempting to look happy. Listen Kate, if it makes you that sad, just send it to me.

Playlist Wednesday- Imagine That

Yes, that is a GIANT picture of John Lennon. Now that we have addressed it, let us move on.

I'd love to know what the most covered song of all time is. I'll have to get my hands on some stats and get back to you. In the mean time, I've got to believe that John Lennon's "Imagine" is up there, top ten at least. When your song is covered by everyone from Gregorian monks to the cast of Glee, you know it's stood the test of time. I found ten, count 'em ten, different versions of the song for you. Fair warning, some of these are pretty bad. Blues Traveler is particularly painful (big surprise there). Enjoy!

Just an FYI

My site is doneish. I say doneish because portfolios always have room for improvement. Nevertheless, it's donesish, and I'm proud. I am by no means a developer, so punching away at the code for it was quite the battle. Regardless, check me out.

Winter Gear Roundup

Take a deep breath before you read the next sentence. Ready? Inhale. Exhale. Ok. It's December 1st. I do not like that one bit. Winter is coming up quicker than I'd like, as is the cold. One of winter's saving graces are the fun hats, scarves and gloves you get to wear. They make going out in the cold more appealing. To start winter off with a marginally fashionable bang, let's have a winter gear roundup.

Sally GlovesDiagonal Stripe Scarf
Applique Cloche
Xtra Long Cable Knit Gloves
