Finish Line Link Party

Happy Friday! So I race my first "5K". I use quotes because it was actually a tiny bit longer. An official 5K is about 3.2 miles. This, dear friends, was 3.5. Pre-race my company was chilling and stretching at our tent when we saw someone walk by with a shirt that said 3.5 miles on it. Um, that's a newsflash to me! Regardless, I ran and I finished! I'm proud. If there's an unattractive photo of me finishing, I will share. I swear I saw flashes when I crossed, so I assume there are photos. Either that or I was hallucinating by the end. Ah well. Happy Friday, enjoy the long weekend, and I'll see you on Tuesday!

Pump Those Crazy Legs!

I'm running my first 5K today. I'm half excited and half nerves. I've never done an organized race before, let alone any actual race since high school. I started training with a Couch to 5K plan and abandoned it after a few weeks. Instead I just ran. I'm not aiming for speed. I'm aiming not to die. I think that is an achievable goal. I'll let you know how it goes down. If you happen to be in the Chicagoland area and are passing by Grant Park, say around 7'ish and see the a body on the grass, do me a favor and yell something encouraging at it.

500 Days of Summer Recut As A Thriller

For all you 500 Days of Summer fans, this had me cracking up:

Playlist Wednesday: Slow Club

Four words I love: English indie folk rock. Slow Club hails from Sheffeild, England. Thank you technology for bringing me their music even though I live in Chicago. I don't know that adorable is a word I often use to describe music, but these guys are pretty adorable. Don't believe me? Check out their music below. I even stuck a video in there for you.

Design Inspiration Monday: Hyperactivitypography

I love activity books. I always have. Activity books geared toward adult designers? Even more love.

"Hyperactivitypography from A to Z is an activity book for typographers illustrated in a nostalgic vintage style to give it a sweet and childlike look. The book is packed with activities, ranging from silly to hard core nerdiness. "

The books are currently sold out (and why wouldn't they be), but you can find out more here.

Friday Link Party

I've been delinquent in posting this week. I'm hoping to make it up to you now with a crazy awesome Friday post. I've been busy, my friends. I dog-sat a bulldog that snored like a bear and kept me up for two nights. I did my my first (and possibly last) early morning cardio boot camp. It kicked my butt. I've been sore for two days. It hurts to breath. I'm hope to feel 100% again by Sunday when I plan to dance my butt of at a retirement party. I encourage you to dance as well. If you don't have a party to attend hold your own. If you don't want to throw a party, just spontaneously dance by yourself at home. It'll be fun. I promise.

Playlist Wednesday: Stars

Paste Magazine recently did an article about 25 albums they're looking forward to this summer. I was pleasantly surprised to see an old friend on the list. Stars releases a new album, The Five Ghosts on June 22. The Canadian indie band's music, like their name, is beautiful and lush. It's been three years since their last album and I can't wait. If you haven't checked them out before, give them a listen now.

Friday Link Party with Special Video

Happy Friday! I went on my first tapas crawl in Lincoln Square last night and really had a blast. Five locations each with their own drink & food paring. I was like an experiment in adult behavior, a field trip for adults if you will. What happens when you put a dozen adults together who don't know each other but all want food and a glass of wine? Becky & I met some interesting people who gave us some great vacation advice and we had potato and rosemary pizza at Pizza D.O.C. Delicious! Have a great weekend, and if you can, eat some potato and rosemary pizza!

Why should you check out Pennywishes on Etsy? I'll give you three reasons.

Muse Video & Updates

I've been bad this week when it comes to posting. Life is busy and it looks like things won't be slowing down for a while. I'm going on a Tapas Crawl tomorrow night with a friend. We get to sample tapas and Spanish wines at different locations. I am not a bar crawl kind of girl, but you throw some tapas into the equation and I'm all over it. I've also been running more to prepare for my first 5K, which is just a few weeks away. On rainy days I run at the gym while I watch music videos. I am a huge Muse fan, but not having cable I rarely see music videos. They play this one at the time all the gym, and it kills me. What better way to make it through your Wednesday than watching some sinister teddy bears on the rampage. Enjoy!
