Are you staying at home or heading out? Whatever you're up to, I hope you have fun. Enjoy these Friday links, and hit me up in the comments section, if you've got some of your own to share.

Das Boot!

It's fall and I want to buy boots. Lace ups, rain boots, you name them I want them right now. Here are a few favorites I found on endless.com. I also included a pair that begs for discussion. Um, can we say ankle breaking?

Music Video Tuesday

Death Cab for Cutie just released a new music video for their single "Stay Young, Go Dancing." It's a whole bunch of adorable. I am loving the sentimental married Ben. He's all love and butterflies.

Katie Herzig also has a new video out, and it features one of my very favorite things in the world- stop motion animation! Why is this technique not used more? Perhaps it's too much fun for mass consumption.

Those are my new tunes, what are you listening to?

Summer Reads Gone By

If you haven't already picked up a copy of Bossy Pants and you enjoy all things funny, you're really missing out. Bossy Pants, authored by the amazing Miss Tina Fey, was my summer read.

The book chronicles her life from childhood to having a child of her own. It's honest and it's laugh out loud funny, like read it on the train to and from work, start to cackle then people stare at you weird funny.

What impressed me most with the book was how normal she is. Fey talks about the same body issues most woman have, she just discusses them more hilariously. My favorite chapters compare what it's like to be very, very skinny and what it's like a little bit fat. Yes, you will wear shorts when it's not short season, and yes you may burn your gut on an iron. Oh, Tina.

Even though summer is over, you should still pick up a copy of the book. Do it for funny's sake.

Farmers Market Lovin

Summer is pretty much over and come October I will be lamenting the loss of my beloved Farmers Market. If you've never been, or for some reason are skeptical of Farmers Markets, let me give you some incentive. Let's make a list.

1. Everything tastes better! Why? It's fresh. The produce came from a farm that morning. It hasn't been sitting around on a truck or on shelf somewhere for days. It's fresh, and it's delicious.

2. It's like a block party, but with good food. My market features local food vendors who serve lunch and musicians that add a festival atmosphere. Grab yourself a picnic blanket, sit down, and soak it all in.

3. No pesticides! The majority of produce at the market is pesticide free. If you're not sure about something, ask the farmer. After all, they're right in front of you. Ask as many questions as you want about how your food was farmed and get answers directly from the source. Try that a grocery store.

4. The deliciousness goes way beyond produce. We're talking jams, cheeses, bread, meat and more baked goods that you can imagine. There are pies, my friends. Pies.

5.  It's cheap. Now I love me some Whole Foods (seriously, I could spend hours there), but it's no secret that their prices are high. Get food that's the same quality, or better, for less money.

Before this season of the farmers market comes to a close, you really should check one out. If you live in Chicago, get a list of local markets here. If you're not, take a second and get your Google on. It will be delicious. I promise.

15 September 2011

You haven't heard from me since April. Well I'm back, kids!

During my time off, I:
  • spent time in London and New York
  • rocked out at Lollapalooza
  • signed up for a 15K
  • ran the warrior dash
  • have been living life
I've missed posting and sharing, so I'm putting an end to that. Guys, it's been so long, blogspot changed how you post. I didn't know what to do when I logged in. Ouch. Forgive me, dears. Let's put this behind us, shall we?
